Workmanship Warranty

Workmanship Warranty

By law here in Alaska, Painting Contractors who offer Painting Services to customers are NOT required to provide any warranty for any painting project where paint is applied on the inside or outside of a house or building.

Many painting companies take advantage of this. They skip a lot of the necessary prep work needed to get the job done right, which makes the exterior paint last.

The end result is that the customer has to paint the house or building yet again in just a couple of years after being done.

At The Paint Anchorage Team, we like to think we do things differently by offering a 5-Year Workmanship Warranty on painting and a 2-Year Workmanship Warranty on Stain to our customers. We are going above and beyond what the state of Alaska even requires. Also, it gives you a fantastic value and peace of mind for your money.

On this page, we’ll explain why we’re able to offer an extensive warranty and why Alaska houses need this kind of protection.

Below is an overview of what our workmanship warranty covers and does not cover…

We are a Specialty Contractor and warrant workmanship for a period of 54 months from the final billing period. The Paint Anchorage Team warrants against paint being missed in spots, peeling, chipping, and/or blistering of paint we apply, resulting from faulty workmanship.

If paint failure appears during the warranty period due to improper workmanship, The Paint Anchorage Team will supply all the labor and materials to correct the problem areas. Warranty service shall be as prompt as possible and courteous when getting the work done.

We only use Lifetime Warranty paint products from Sherwin-Williams, and this is the only brand we will warranty.

For this Warranty to be Valid, you must…

  • Pay the Full Contract Amount
  • Retain a copy of the Original Contract
  • Retain a copy of your evidence of payment in Full
  • Pay for all Materials used for the repairs if the paint is out of Warranty
  • Make the property accessible to the Contractor to perform the repairs

You must be able to show proof of purchase.

The Paint Anchorage Team personnel will, in a timely manner, inspect requests for warranty work before repair work is performed in the area of faulty workmanship.

NOTE: Exteriors – We will match the paint color as closely as possible; however, it may not match perfectly due to fading from the sun and/or weather conditions. Also, the summers get quite busy for us, and we would like you to be patient as we work to fit your warranty work into our schedule.

We will usually finish the warranty work in a timely manner, but we will definitely get the work done before the summer ends, as we were notified of the warranty work. If notified in the winter, it will be scheduled for the following summer.

Interiors – The warranty work is the same, but we will make an appointment with you to see the work in question and arrange for it to be taken care of if it falls within our warranty. If possible, interior work should be done in the winter.

What this Limited Warranty does NOT cover and the Contractor will NOT be responsible for…
  • Temperature Changes, Settlement, Moisture, cracks caused by frost heaving.
  • Damages caused by accidents or abuse to the property after painting, like scratches and scuffs

  • This is a Non-Transferable Warranty – Warranty is void if House is Sold or Transferred. Only if the homeowner explicitly asks to have the warranty transferred to the new owner and we are introduced to the new owner will this be allowed.

Or any other causes out of the company’s direct control. In addition…

This Limited workmanship warranty shall not cover any work that the company did not perform.

It also does NOT include surfaces made of or containing:

Galvanized metal, steel walls, Surfaces that are stained, walked on, wood sills, sun-exposed varnish or painted areas.

Cracks in existing surfaces will be properly prepared as indicated at the time of the job, but re-emergence of such cracks will not be covered.

Surfaces that use Raw Hide material like Timber-Flex Sealer. When the customer wants to apply paint over an existing product like this on the house or building. When NOT taking the proper preparations when applying new paint products.

We do not know what was painted over before we apply our painting products to the surface, so we can’t be held responsible for or will be responsible for anything like this.

Only if there is no evidence of why the paint we apply is failing will we repaint the area.

Again, The Paint Anchorage Team will furnish all labor and materials needed to honor this Limited Workmanship Warranty. Warranty service shall be as prompt as possible and courteous when performing the work.
